Speaker Pam Simpson
Pam is an Art and Design Historian, who has worked in London art schools for 30 years, including the Royal College of Art, 20 of those years at Middlesex University. She now lives in West Dorset.
She will look at the way flower painting developed in demand by the growing Dutch merchant class and beyond to other countries, as it was highly prized by collectors. The talk also looks at the impact on the representation of flowers in painting from the new natural sciences and what becomes the discipline of botany.
