2022 Spring Show – A Success

The club’s first show since September 2019 was a great success with over 260 entries across the range of spring flowers, herbs, artworks, preserves and cakes. As our club President, Monique Pasche said “It is brilliant to be back and to see the fantastic work everyone has been doing in their gardens and kitchens.”

Although it was late in the season, the six different classes of daffodils show-cased the diversity of the form, size, and colour in this flower which seems so familiar and had the judges viewing from all angles finally awarding the Daffodil Society bronze medal to Charlie McCormick to join his armful of cups, including the Charlie Barrett Cup for overall show winner. Perhaps the most eye-catching plant was the beautiful white orchid for which Thelma Pratt won best in class.

Outside on East Street the plant stall raised over £200 for the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust through the sale of plants donated by members .

In giving out the cups and awards Mayor of Bridport, Ian Bark led thanks to all the contributors and to Monique Pasche and her small team for stepping in to organise the show. This has become a fixture in the community calendar and reminded everybody about the late summer show on Saturday September 3rd.
