Speaker Colin Varndell
Colin Varndell has been photographing the landscape and wildlife for over 42 years. His evocative photographs of animals, birds, insects, wild flowers and the landscape are reproduced in books, magazines, newspapers, greetings cards, calendars and in advertising worldwide. He has won awards four times in the prestigious International Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition. His pictures were used to promote the BBC millennium programme Living Britain, and were also reproduced in the book of the series.
His illustrated talk will cover behaviour, feeding, preening and feather care, aggression, flight, nesting, summer visitors, winter visitors, feeding birds in winter, feeding devices, fruit bearing shrubs for birds, nest boxes, predators, drinking, bathing and bird baths, autumn moult and more.
His photographs are used regularly to promote the work of many conservation organisations including Dorset Wildlife Trust, The Woodland Trust, Sussex Wildlife Trust, RSPCA, Mammals Trust UK, Norfolk Wildlife Trust, Devon Wildlife Trust, Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust and Kent Wildlife Trust.
