Following successful Plant stalls at both the Spring and Harvest shows we raised combined funds of £1,010 for charity.
This year the money raised was in aid of Stepping Out, a Bridport-based cancer rehabilitation scheme.
The overarching aim of the Group is to help members with their recovery, during and after their cancer diagnosis. The group is run by Jo Perfect and Richard Walsh, who are both specially trained level 4 cancer rehabilitation instructors.
Early in October a cheque was presented to Richard by the Gardening Club’s Treasurer, Councillor Ian Bark. The photo also shows members of Stepping Out and the BDGC representatives: Monique Pasche (President); Tim Gale (Chair); Sibyl Gale (Secretary).
Thanks go to everyone who contributed plants, bought plants and helped to raise money at the shows. The mainstays of the plant stall were Margaret Genender (Spring), Ann Brown, Vivienne and Gordon Smith (Harvest). They staffed the plant stalls despite varying extremes of weather at both the Spring and Harvest shows. Previous records of sales were surpassed in the Spring, mainly due to the generous contribution of plants from Alison Halliday. A wonderful team effort from the Club.
