 Everyone who replied was in favour of Cllr Bark’s suggestion. The over-riding theme from them was that plastic pots are definitely not single-use plastic.  They are used and re-used for years, “until they fall apart”.  People also used yoghurt/margarine/cream pots/plastic bottles – examples below: A lot of plastic-trays for supermarket fruit and veg are the same size, so the clear trays can be used on top of opaque ones as propagators. During the lock-down, Groves Nurseries have been running deliveries to the DT6 and DT8 areas. They are operating with a skeleton staff and, it appears, most of the Groves family. To show our appreciation 60 Bridport Gardening Club members responded to an appeal to fund at least one treat for the hard-working team. On Monday 27th April Groves staff enjoyed a lunch provided by local caterers Hungry Mule while sitting in the sunshine.

We spent our first day at Bodnant, a Grade One listed garden in Snowdonia’s foothills, with excellent mountain views.  There are 80 acres of Italianate formal gardens with shrub-filled glades, historic plant collections and 42 UK Champion trees.  We rounded off the day with a trip on the Great Orme Railway around the promontory overlooking Llandudno Bay.
