A wide variety of carefully themed gardens sit within the 10 acre coastal parkland of Compton Acres originally devised by Thomas Simpson in 1920 to reflect his overseas travels. These range from the formality of ‘the Grand Italian Garden’ to the intricate ‘rock and water gardens’ and the added interest of the ‘Japanese garden’.
There are several cafes and seats with views over Poole harbour. The circuit route finishes in the courtyard plant centre.
The visit includes a guided tour for those interested.
